Day Care and respite care Centre

Day Centre & Respite for Young
Adults with Disabilities
The all new Marigold Centre

Preparing you for Transition

Marigold Centre is a state of the art day care centre for young adults and a four room respite care facility close to the sea front and centre of Southend.

The Marigold Centre, formally a family centre, is a beautiful period building in the conservation area and, after extensive conversion, is ideally suited for both day care and respite care use. The Marigold has been modeled on the Woodside day care centre success, with a few additions. The main difference is the ability to offer respite facilities, along side day care.

There are four good-sized activity rooms including a large screen T.V. room, with all the electronic games, X box, Wii, etcetera. There are rooms dedicated to activities, arts and crafts, such as painting and pottery, generally making a mess, and of course, having some quiet time in the chill out room. Howdens Kitchen Suppliers have fitting a state-of-the-art fully-accessible kitchen where we encourage cooking skills, and there are three fully-accessible bathrooms available. Outside we have a lovely mature front garden for those with green fingers and a large activity garden at the rear to enjoy, with Astro Turf for all year use. Upstairs, and accessible via either lift or stairs, we have four fully-accessible en-suite bedrooms for our respite guests.

The Marigold Centre comes with fully trained and friendly staff encouraging life skills, always there to help and take the very best care of all the students. Of course, in addition to a great building, the location of the Marigold enables easy access to Southend, just ten minutes away, as well as the cliffs and Southend seafront right on the doorstep. Marigold, just like Woodside will have its own vehicles, not just providing transport to and from the centre, but for trips during the day, such as just ride, bowling or an introduction to golf.

We encourage "Life Skills", a development driven by the students and steered by their parents or guardians. Staff start by discussing with you, and your son or daughter, "what will make a difference" and we will work together to achieve those goals.
